Type: Cases and controls. Level of evidence: III. it was directed interview looking for inconsistencies between physical examination, electromyography and symptomatology referred to by the patient and image studies and determined whether or not suspected simulation. Seventy six patients selected were valued at random that were operated column in the period 1994-2010. The data were statistically evaluated with frequencies and measures of association, where 14 simulators patients were found. Risk factors were identified to be simulator, resulting 3.4 times more likely to be a patient simulator if concerns close to 10 similar scale pain. It is 5 times more likely to be simulator is requesting a pension by the disease. It has a history of psychiatric pathology, rises 6.7 times be simulator to this being the factor that showed greater partnership. No patient had a previous psychiatric assessment. Patients should have a psychiatric assessment if you suspect simulation and all patient must be operated only if there is consistency between it and the objective.
