Benefit of diet fiber in chronic-degenerative disease

ABSTRACT
The changes in the feeding habits of some populations are due to the abandonment of traditional diets rich in cereals, legumes, fruits and vegetables for diets in which predominate food of animal origin, fast food rich in simple carbohydrates, sodium, saturated fat and free of fiber. The daily intake of 20 to 40 gr of diet fiber has been linked to the prevention and development of some chronic degenerative disease, such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes as well as the regulation of the gastrointestinal function.
