ABSTRACT
Introduction: Urethrocutaneous fistula (UCF) formation is the most common complication after hypospadias repair. Many surgical techniques have been used. The fibrin sealant (FS) contribute in the healing of wound improvement. This is a comparative study using FS.
Materials and Methods: A patients with an urethrocutaneous fistula after hypospadias repair were submitted. A Group 1: simple suture line closure and Group 2: simple suture line closure plus application of fibrin sealant. We show the result
Results: A 23 patients were divided in two groups. Group 1: 11 cases, 6 (54.5%) the fistula resolve without complications and 5 (45.4%) with recidivism of the fistula. Group 2: 12 cases, 5 (41.6%) the fistula resolve and 7 (58.3%) with recidivism of the fistula.
Conclusion: The use of fibrin sealant do not diminish the risk of recurrence in the closure of urethrocutaneous fistula after hypospadias repair.
