Wilms tumor: Kidney Surgery Pediatrics rescue

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Wilms’ tumor is the abdominal tumor pediatric more frequent in our midst. The surgery of rescue renal is an alternative for patients with advanced stage of the disease. The surgery of rescue renal failure in patients with affectation advanced or bilateral of them, you can keep them free from disease tumor in the renal parenchyma residual without having condition serious kidney function.
Material and Methods: a study was conducted during the period from January 2002 to December 2004. Prior to the procedure will be biopsió and administered scheme of chemotherapy. It was considered as successful surgery if the report of pathology showed edges surgical disease free.
Results: included 5 patients with the diagnosis of Wilms’ tumor. The age of patients ranged from 24 to 35 months with an average of 31.5 months. There were no complications during the trans and post surgical. During a period of 5 to 24 months, patients are free of disease in the renal parenchyma residual and without the need to use of peritoneal dialysis.
Discussion: In stadiums advanced in the Wilms’ tumor, the surgery rescue renal, is an option in the surgical management.
