ABSTRACT
Intracranial schwannomas account for up to 8 % of all primary brain tumors. The most common site for schwannomas is the vestibular portion of the eighth cranial nerve. Intraparenchymal schwannomas of the central nervous system are rare; even more rare is intraventricular location, with only seven cases reported in the literature. Of these intraventricular tumors, only three have been described in the IV ventricle. A case of IV ventricle schwannoma is reported. A 36-year-old woman presented with right cerebellar syndrome, and a computerized scan demonstrated a well-delimited, sausage-like, isodense tumor. Tumor had a vascular pedicle originating from telovelotonsillar segment of right postero-inferior cerebellar artery, which was completely removed. Possible origin of this tumor is discussed and relevant literature is reviewed.
