ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and skills on Cardiopulmonar Resuscitation (CPR) they have doctors assigned to the internal pregrade (MIP’s) HGR 25 according to the recommendations of the American Hearth Association (AHA).
Methods: With the authorization of the Investigation Committee were asked to all of the mips of the Hospital General Regional (HGR) 25 respond voluntarily and anonymously on the assessment instrument used in CPR courses AHA then were asked to perform basic maneuvers CPR on mannequins; these maneuvers were evaluated by an instructor from outside the Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) study according to the checklist and is validated for the same purpose. We performed a descriptive statistical analysis and Mann-Whitney U for comparison of groups.
Results: We included 40 hospital interns, 85% were female, with an average of 22.9 years. 50% were from the Escuela Superior de Medicina from Instituto Politécnico Nacional and 50% at the Facultad de Estudios Superiores Zaragoza. 50% were attending school in the half while the other 50% were initiating it. Only 10% of those evaluated had prior training in CPR. In evaluating the theoretical phase mips none of the competency levels. Within the practical phase, only 5 (25%) demonstrated competence in the skills of maneuvering CPR, showing significance for the ESM. Pre deployment training showed no significance. No significant difference was found when comparing the theoretical phase of the internship period. Even if we find it in the practical phase, as the competent 5 were located in the middle of the internship.
Conclusions: The knowledge and skills available to CPR are deficient. It is necessary to establish educational strategies to improve.
