Modified Medical Outcomes Study (MOS) Validation for AIDS Quality of Life Evaluation

ABSTRACT

Objective: Modified MOS (Medical Outcomes Study) instrument validation for measuring quality of life. Methodology: Instrument English-Spanish-English translation, content validity, face validity, construct validity, criterion validity. Content and face validity were defined by experts. The instrument was applied twice on 80 people with different health levels at the moment and 15 days later. Internal reliability and correlation were done. Results: Translation was certified and content and face validity were done by experts. Construct and criterion validity were done by instrument discrimi-nation of low quality of life (x = 42.83, SD = 9.92) corresponding to AIDS and hospitalized patients, and high quality of life (x = 80.10, SD = 7.75) corresponding to outpatients and their relatives. Analysis results were 0.91 Pearson correlation and 0.81-0.88 reliability. Conclusions: Modified MOS instrument discri-minated efficiently quality of life according to the health level of patients.
