ABSTRACT
Implantation of posterior chamber lens using trans-scleral suture is an alternative to the use of anterior chamber lenses. The use of ultrabiomicroscopy allows us to visualize the relationship of the IOL with adjacent structures. Methods: Survey conducted in the departments of Anterior Segment and Ultrasound of our hospital. The surgeons performed surgery with oblique incisions from 1.7 mm to 2.0 mm. In all cases anterior vitrectomy was performed. Three months after surgery UBM was performed with a Humphrey Ultrabiomicroscope. We included 6 patients (9 eyes), 4 women and 2 men, ages ranging from 4 to 55 years. Of the 9 intraocular lenses 44.4% were located in the scleral sulcus and 55.5% posterior to the sulcus. Conclusion: The ultrabiomicroscopy permits an objective description of the anatomical structures and location of the handles of the IOL.
