ABSTRACT
Purpose: To evaluate and compare the depth of the anterior chamber by means of ultrasound A (USG A), Corneal Topography (Orbscan II), Optical coherence Tomography (Visante OCT) and Ultrasonic biomicroscopy (UBM).
Material and methods: Prospective, comparative, longitudinal and observational study. Patients with cataract diagnosis without retinal vitreous pathology were included. In each patient an average of 5 measurements which each system were realized by the same person.
Results: Fifty eyes of 26 patients were studied, 50% of the female, with an average age of 69 years. A variance analysis was realized (ANOVA) with a value of p‹0.05 and a coefficient of correlation of 0, 97 between OCT versus UBM in comparison of 0, 78 between USG A Versus Orbscan.
Conclusions: The difference between systems is statistically significant. There is a greater correlation between the OCT and the UBM. The data collected by Orbscan were always smaller unlike the other systems. It is always necessary to evaluate the patient in an integral way and choose the best system available.
