ABSTRACT
Melatonine, secreted by the pineal gland participates in a series of physiologic processes. To this indol it has been attributed an important regulation of the rhythmic processes and it is considered the best endogenic reductor of the free radicals. Some of the diseases of the nervous system, the degenerative ones may result of multiple factors, among them, the ozon oxidative stress of the cell, which melatonine can reduce. Its use, however, must be vigilated due to secondary effects that it can have, mainly on the reproductor apparatus.
