ABSTRACT
Background: 20 years ago, osteosarcoma of the knee was lethalin over 80% of cases or were treated with radical surgery. Currently around 80% of patients with local disease are treated with UMB-sparing surgery. Few reports of treatment in children are available.
Material and methods: A 14 year old girl with a 2 cm mass on the high was round to have chondroblastic osteosarcoma which was treated with chemotherapy and en-bloc excision of the tumor with reconstruction with allograft.
Results: Range of motion in the it’s and were are acceptance, the allograft has integrated.
Conclusions: Surgical reconstruction with allograft after an en-bloc excision and fixation with an intra-medullary nail avoids the complications associated with an amputation.
