Social Problems in childhood with epilepsy

ABSTRACT
Background. Point out the psychosocial aspects involvement in pediatric epilepsy patients.
Material and methods. We described 7 cases, three males and four females. The mean of age were 11.5 , the more young were 5 and the oldest 16 years old. The prevalent psychosocial aspects to investigate were: Scholar rejects, difficulties to relationship between partners, and difficulties in sociabilization.
Results. The chief complaint was scholar reyect mainly by teacher and school authorities and follow up by reyect for partners. In two children produced is lament an depressive symptoms with afraid to go the school. Three patients have a seizure in classroom, and this event was the motive to remove the school. The other three children complaint the difficulties in to relationship with others school partners.
Discussion. The investigation demonstrates the existence to stigmatization in epileptic children. That stigma probably is for don’t know precise information about epilepsy. This study suggests the need to reforce programs about epilepsy in scholar population, in order to avoid reyect, discrimination and stigma.
