ABSTRACT

A 35 year old female is presented with 2 months history of malaise, mild abdominal pain, 5 k lost of weight, and a mass in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. During physical examination we noticed an abdominal mass with palpable surface nodules, slightly tender to palpation with signs of acute abdominal pain; liver function test and hematic cithology were normal. The computed tomography showed a heterogeneous tumor arising in the left hepatic lobe. She underwent exploratory laparotomy and a left hepatectomy was done with findings of a 27x15x15cm left lobe dependent with omentun necrosis due to compression, explaining the acute abdominal pain, postoperative outcome was uneventful and was discharge at sixth postoperative day and she sent to Oncology service for chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The diagnosis of embryonal (undifferentiated) sarcoma of the liver was done by light microscopy and inmunohistochemistry. Finally the patient died 6 months after due unknown causes and local tumoral activity. This tumor is rare in adults, is the second reported at Hospital General de México O.D. and first surgically treated in adults in Mexican Republic.
