ABSTRACT
Transient ischemic attacks (TIA) are episodic and focal disturbances of the cerebral and retinal circulation. It is very important the early identification, as well as the etiological evaluation and the adequate therapeutics in patients who suffer this illness, for only this way they will be able to prevent an ictus occurrence. It is in the primary attention of this illness where the therapeutical deficiencies generally appear, due to the unawareness the population has about the TIA. Since they are short-lasting periods, the clinician is not usually present when the symptom frame appears and a checkup should be made at the starting point of the observation; this is quite normal, that is why the clinical diagnosis depends exclusively on the questioning. In the end, neuroimages will be determinant to make it a difference between these and other processes capable of make believe it; the neurosonological studies will help us define a probable atheromatosis. Therapeutics must depend on the etiology and other conditions such as risk factor control, antiplateletaries, endarterectomy and anticoagulation.
