ABSTRACT
This research issues the Social Representations of Disability in the institutional speech context and it’s relationships with social spaces, such as college campuses involved with health sciences and assistance services in marginal surrounding areas in the City of Valencia. The methodology applied for the work comes from the Theory of Social Representations and within the qualitative paradigm. The sources were students of Health Sciences of Universidad de Carabobo and users of health services in the City of Valencia. The informants were addressed on their stories, after introducing them on images of disabilities people. As a result answers rose which qualify incapacity as an illness, curse, social tragedy, handicap and even punishment. A conclusion can come in the fact that at an institutional level disability extend form biomedical speech an remain so legally registered; while the students and users remain untouched by biomedical conceptions an disability is perceived socially in moral – ethics, affective, naturist and social critic categories.
