ABSTRACT
Nowadays, Aeromedical transport (AMT) of critical care patients has emerged as a real necessity of our times, because in many situations it is the only option to provide a high standard of medical care to these patient before they arrived a high tech-Hospitals. However, the use of AMT will depend of the critical analysis from the risk-benefits of such transportation in critical care patients.
On this basis, AMT will require the knowlegde of the advantages and disadvantages of such transportation in critical care patients and the physiological changes that the patient will suffer during the fly. Based on these knowledge it would be possible to prevent and treat any possible complication that might suffer the critical care patient – with multiorganic failure and with complex and advance life support- during transportation.
Being AMT one of the most useful transport ways in our times, this document will provided current guidelines and analytic information with the main purpose to updated the not-specialized physician with AMT of critical care patients, to be able to identify the best candidate to be transport in such way getting the greatest benefits.
