ABSTRACT
Congenital absence of the vagina is a rare condition where the most common cause is the Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome; an anomaly in development of Müller conducts. This deformity has profound physiological and psychological implications for the patient. Several methods have been described in medical literature indicating that an ideal approach has not yet been found. In our search for a simple, more effective and available method causing less morbidity, we introduced the use of a simple syringe as a vaginal stunt, wrapped with allograft of cultured keratinocytes in vitro, to promote the epithelialization of the formed neovaginal cavity. A 16-year-old female patient with hematocolpos due to vaginal agenesis in the superior third was treated. The cavity was drained off and the patient was sent to our service for neovaginal construction. The surgical technique was a dissection between the rectum and the bladder to the cervix, and the application of the syringe wrapped with cultured keratinocytes. She has a good recovery with epithelialization of the neoformed vaginal canal, regular menstrual periods, without any retention. We consider our method to be a new option that diminishes morbidity that other methods have, describe besides being readily available and simple.
