ABSTRACT
Cartilage injuries in horses’ joints are a serious and common problem that limits their athletic activity. Cartilage does not heal and injuries usually require surgical treatment. However, current surgical treatments are not successful. In humans as well as in horses, current treatment modalities of chondral lesions in different joints rely on the use of arthroscopic procedures to remove loose fragments of cartilage and bone, and its repair is done with fibrocartilage, which temporarily relieves joint pain.
