ABSTRACT
Introduction: The new coronavirus is an infectious disease that causes important respiratory and physical dysfunctions. These require the use of different rehabilitation techniques, taking into account the needs and consequences of patients. The protocol deals with aspects related to the procedures to determine the levels of affectation (respiratory, cardiovascular, physical and others) in patients who have suffered from COVID-19 and the therapeutic behavior to follow in the face of diagnosed limitations. Objective: To standardize the evaluation procedures and rehabilitative treatment of persons with post-COVID-19 sequelae at Diez de Octubre Clinical-Surgical Teaching Hospital.
Methods: Expert opinions and good practice guides (WHO/PAHO, SEPAR) were reviewed, as well as the experience of recognized international institutions. An initial and final multidisciplinary specialized evaluation, the diagnostic means to be used and the treatment guidelines to be followed were established.
Conclusions: The application of the comprehensive rehabilitation protocol in the center provides medical assistance with a multidisciplinary vision to patients with post-COVID-19 sequelae. Studies and treatments with a scientific basis are guaranteed, as well as results that allow achieving social reintegration and improving the quality of life related to the health of patients.
