ABSTRACT
This work is relevant and of great importance in the initial knowledge of patients with hydrocephalus without increased pressure by the cerebrospinal fluid, with improvement by the placement of systemic cerebrospinal fluid shunt, in addition to "surgical" correction of secondary dementia. It also describes the term for the clinical picture of "normotensive hydrocephalus" and/or "low pressure", its recognized etiological factors, in the present work due to inflammatory neurocysticercosis (42%) or traumatic (14%). With a common mechanism detected, alteration and/or defect in the absorption of cerebrospinal fluid.
