ABSTRACT
The thickness of soft tissue and the presence of keratinized tissue are important factors for dental implant stability. These tissues help prevent the accumulation of biofilm and inflammation around the implant, thus avoiding the loss of supporting bone. In cases of periimplantitis, increasing the thickness of soft tissue is recommended through gingival grafts or the use of acellular dermal matrices such as BioHorizons' Alloderm. The following case describes a male patient with a history of various periodontal surgical procedures and the placement of six implants in the maxilla. He presented problems such as absence of keratinized tissue, shallow vestibule, and peri-implant disease. An acellular dermal matrix graft was performed to improve the prognosis of the implants, along with an overdenture with axial retention attachments. Increasing keratinized mucosa improved peri-implant health and reduced the risk of periimplantitis.
