ABSTRACT

Objective: Evaluate the correlation of testicular ultrasonographic alterations and the abnormalities present in the spermogram.
Materials and methods: A prospective cohort study was carried out with non-probabilistic convenience sampling with a universal sample size of records of patients who attended the Fertility Clinic consultation, a correlation analysis was carried out between the variables using the Pearson correlation coefficient, of which a value of p<0.001 was accepted.
Results: Records of 27 patients were obtained where it was found that the presence of hydrocele/varicocele and epididymitis has a correlation of r=0.98, with a value of p<0.001, which infers an adequate correlation in the ultrasound assessment of these. patients. The results obtained from the correlation between the spermogram and testicular ultrasound showed a Spearman correlation coefficient r=0.16, with a value of p=0.62.
Conclusions: It was observed that microlithiasis, epididymitis, hydrocele/varicocele and cryptorchidism, as well as decreased pH, volume, altered motility and decreased sperm count, are the most prevalent alterations. A correlation of r=0.98 was found between epididymitis and the presence of hydrocele/varicocele.
