ABSTRACT
Introduction: since January 2020, health measures were applied in Ciro Redondo to control COVID- 19. Objective: to describe the clinical-epidemiological profile of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the health area of the Ciro Redondo municipality, from March 2020 to March 2021. Métodos: estudio observacional descriptivo de corte transversal sobre los casos confirmados de COVID-19 en el municipio de Ciro Redondo, desde marzo del 2020 a marzo del 2021. The incidence and fatality rates per 100 thousand inhabitants were estimated and the frequencies were described in percentages of the variables: age, sex, incidence by popular advice, months of the year and presence or absence of symptoms at the time of diagnosis, as well as the symptoms referred at the time of diagnosis. Results: of a total of 3,527 samples processed, 97 patients were diagnosed with COVID-19, for a 2.80% positivity rate. The incidence rate was 317.00 per 100 thousand inhabitants, the fatality rate was 6.5 per 100 thousand inhabitants and the highest incidence of the disease was observed in February. The majority of the cases belonged to the male sex, were between 19 and 59 years old, were native and were contacts of confirmed cases. The majority were concentrated in the Eastern and Western People's Councils and more than half were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis. Dry cough 69.23 %, fever 53.85 % followed by dyspnea 46.15%, were the most frequently reported symptoms. Conclusions: the data found in this study, especially the dispersion throughout the municipality, helped to provide better care to the population and adequate control of COVID-19.
