ABSTRACT
Glycans are one of the most important cellular components; however, due
to their structural diversity, their functions have not been fully studied.
Glycosylation is an important modification of many proteins. Viruses
depend on glycosylation to perform biological functions. Multiple functions
of viral protein glycosylation have been described during infections
such as dengue, Zika, influenza, human immunodeficiency virus, and
coronaviruses. In this review, the glycosylation process of viral proteins
and its role in pathological processes will be explained.
