ABSTRACT
The 5th edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Hematolymphoid Tumors (2022) was recently published, in which there are important changes in the classification of myelodysplastic neoplasms. These changes focus on reorganize the categories of myelodysplastic neoplasms emphasizing the histological features and genetic variables. It is recognized that the subgroups established better classify patients according to clinical behavior and prognosis. The new classification of WHO of 2022 allows to predict clinical and biological behavior of patients with diagnosis of myelodysplastic neoplasm, because it defines subgroups of the disease with higher risk of progression to leukemia.REFERENCES
