ABSTRACT
Plants are in constant interaction with multiple microorganisms in the environ-ment. The proper perception and activation of microbe-induced signaling in plants leads to the induction of molecular mechanisms that help them to discrim-inate between positive and negative interactions. These signaling mechanisms are mediated by small GTPases. During plant-microorganism interactions, ROP GTPases receive signals from transmembrane receptors and activate molecular effectors that allow the plant to establish relationships with microorganisms. These proteins are considered as molecular switches and are involved in cellular functions such as vesicular trafficking, signaling, and rearrangement of the cytoskeleton. This review summarizes the latest information on the mechanism of action of ROPs GTPases as well as their role during plant-microorganism interactions.
