ABSTRACT
Introduction: intoxication or poisoning by scorpion sting is an important public health problem in Mexico, with high morbidity and mortality rates. Inoculation and exposure to this poison is usually accidental and its effects have been considered neurotoxic. and cardiotoxic.
Case report: we describe the case of a 4-month-old male with a clinical diagnosis of severe scorpion sting envenomation, who manifested persistent tachycardia despite support management and application of the specific antidote.
Conclusions: tachycardia is a sign frequently presented by scorpion poisoning, however, myopericarditis, although it is a complication referred to rarely, is reported in the indexed literature.
