ABSTRACT
A large part of elderly patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are frail prior to admission and have a significant risk of disability and mortality during their stay. Despite the existence of better instruments for measuring frailty, there are still many questions regarding their usefulness. Better understanding of frailty would allow intensivists to identify complications and establish an appropriate prognosis in this patient population, considering the unique needs of older adults.
