ABSTRACT
Urinary tract infections includes upper and lower urinary tract infections. This is a very frequent disease in children. Clinical signs and symptoms are unspecific. Accurate diagnosis is important because correct identification of the infection in a child, the correct treatment and the identification of risk of renal failure in children with pyelonephritis. Diagnostic test is the quantitative urine culture. In children, it is recommended to wait until culture results before you start specific treatment, except in severe symptomatic cases.
