ABSTRACT
Introduction: COVID-19 constitutes a public health emergency of international importance; a number of behaviors have been identified that can prevent the disease and so far, the solution is given by the implementation of behaviors and changes in people's lifestyles. Objective: characterize the level of knowledge about COVID-19 in the selected population. Material and Method: an observational, descriptive and transversal study was carried out in June 2020, in the medical office No. 12, of the Polyclinic Edor de los Reyes Martínez Areas, Jiguaní municipality, Granma province, the universe consisted of 46 patients, descriptive statistic techniques were used. Results: all patients surveyed reported having knowledge about COVID-19. 95.7% considered that sneezing is the main route of transmission of the disease: 100% reported that the use of the nasobuco, hand washing and social distancing are the main prevention measures. Regarding the symptoms of the disease, they considered shortness of breath (93.5%) as the main symptom, followed by fever (91.3%); 100% stated that they had received the information through television. 93.5% of the patients rated the research carried out by the medical sciences students as good. Conclusions: the research showed that the selected population has an adequate level of knowledge regarding COVID-19.REFERENCES
