Impact of adolescense´s pregnancy in a basic work group of the primary care level

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The impact of pregnancy in adolescent girls confirms the need of giving priority to this problem and increasing the number of preventive programs that provide to young people the chance of having a growth and development in optimal reproductive and sexual health’s condictions.Objective: Determine the impact of pregnancy in adolescent girls in the health area of a primary care’s work group.
Methods: It was conducted an observational descriptive, cross-sectional study in the area of the work group in the area of the work group num. 1 belonging to ´´Aleida Fernández Chardiet´´ Polyclinic in La Lisa municipality, Havana, Cuba. The sample group for the study had 25 adolescent girls who gave birth in 2018. There were applied descriptive statistic, frequencies distribution, mean and standard deviation, minimum, maximum, and percentage calculation. The Chi-square test was applied to determine the association between variables.
Results: There was a predominance of late adolescents whom represented 84% of the childbirths. The risk increased being 44% of them considered as malnourished, and it was found an equal percentage of female adolescents with anemia whom had an insufficient weight gain. Smoking habit was present in 48% of the cases, and the syndrome of vaginal discharge in the 88%. More than half of the pregnant adolescents had cesarean section, and one of every five newborns was low weight.
Conclusions: Pregnant adolescents of this health area presented an increased perinatal and maternal risk due to their addictions and by the the presence of associated comorbilities or others common during pregnancy which are related with an unsatisfactory evolution of their pregnancy and labor.
