ABSTRACT
Introduction: The hypertriglyceridemia phenotype/altered abdominal waist is associated with other cardio metabolic problems. Objectives: To describe and identify the prevalence of the hypertriglyceridemia phenotype/altered abdominal waist in middle-aged women with a history of preeclampsia in the last ten years.
Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out from 2018 to 2019. The sample consisted of 108 women between 40 and 55 years of age in Santa Clara municipality, Cuba. The variables studied were age, history of preeclampsia, abdominal circumference, triglycerides, and hypertriglyceridemia phenotype/altered abdominal waist. The data were presented in charts and figures using relative and absolute frequencies.
Results: The prevalence of the hypertriglyceridemia phenotype/altered abdominal waist was determined in 84.25% of the studied population, with a predominance in the group of women with a history of preeclampsia 56.04%. The components of the phenotype show differences, where obesity measured by abdominal waist predominated for a prevalence of 75%. 85.18% of the total number of women with history of preeclampsia, had abdominal waist greater than 88 cm and 66.66% had triglyceride levels of 1.7 mmol/L.
Conclusions: The hypertriglyceridemia phenotype / altered abdominal waist predominated in middle-aged women, given the greater presence of obesity measured by abdominal waist and elevated plasma triglycerides level, which increases when the history of pre-eclampsia is taken into account, which represents a cardiometabolic risk.
