ABSTRACT
Introduction: Currently porcelain veneers are widely used in order to achieve aesthetics and function, especially in the anterior sector. This procedure has been increased as a solution to mal-positioned teeth, diastemas, tooth wear, pigmentation, among others.
Objective: To show the use of ceramic veneers as a complement to orthodontic treatments, with a minimally invasive management of dental structures.
Case report: A 19-year-old female patient has impaired self-esteem due to the shape of her teeth. Dental impressions were taken, diagnostic waxing, mockup, preparation of provisionals, dental preparation with supragingival chamfer, functional impression with Elite HD + Putty Soft additive silicone and Elite HD Light Body (Zhermack
®). A 4-hand technique was used; for gingival management, two retraction threads numbers 000 and 1 (Ultradent) were placed; the bite was recorded with Occlufast (Zhermack
®); a light-cured resin cement (RelyX™ Veneer) was used for cementing. The patient's self-esteem was improved with the use of veneers, attending to the purpose of the consultation, which was to restore her aesthetics and naturalness.
Conclusions: Porcelain veneers are complementary to orthodontic treatments in which aesthetics and functionality cannot be corrected due to wear and inadequate morphology that the dentition may present.
