ABSTRACT
Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFGT) is an emerging hemorrhagic fever caused by a Phlebovirus of the Bunyaviridae family. H. longicornis, a tick indigenous to east Asia, has been reported as a vector for this virus. Symptoms generally include fever, thrombocytopenia, and leukocytopenia; fatality rates range from 10 to 30%. Various domestic and wild animals can be amplifying hosts and ticks can be a vector and a reservoir host for said virus.
