La base de datos como estrategia pedagógica en la educación médica

RESUMEN
Las bases de datos han logrado popularidad como medios de información y educación en el área de la salud. Pueden constituirse en fuentes importantes de educación e investigación con la condición de que incorporen las técnicas interactivas más exitosas de educación que han sido comprobadas a través de estudios de investigación. Para su introducción, los profesores deben dominar la metodología para utilizarlas de manera efectiva. En esta publicación se propone una base de datos como una arquitectura general para la creación de sistemas de educación médica basados en el conocimiento para enseñar diagnóstico y tratamiento. Este modelo debe ser estudiado para determinar su utilidad, aceptabilidad e impacto tanto sobre el proceso como en los resultados educativos. Estas intervenciones educativas computarizadas pueden mejorar el aprendizaje en áreas relevantes de la atención médica, pero no deben considerarse como sustituto sino como un complemento del proceso convencional de educación médica.
