Lipoproteínas de alta densidad y riesgo cardiovascular

RESUMEN
Los lípidos son moléculas altamente hidrofóbicas y por lo tanto insolubles en el
componente acuoso de la sangre, por lo que deben ser transportados a través de
lipoproteínas. Las lipoproteínas de alta densidad (HDL) son las más pequeñas, con
el mayor contenido de apoproteínas y menor contenido de triacilgliceroles (TAG); se
sintetizan en el hígado e intestino, remueven el colesterol de los tejidos periféricos
y lo regresan al hígado, por lo que tradicionalmente se les ha conferido el papel protector
en la aterogénesis. Existen diferentes subtipos de HDL, uno de los cuales, el
subtipo de HDL pre-β1, a diferencia del papel protector del resto, se ha relacionado
con el desarrollo de la ateroesclerosis. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo revisar
la interacción de las HDL con otras proteínas que la remodelan, afectando su
composición y/o función, así como la asociación de un subtipo de HDL con el riesgo
cardiovascular.
