Tamizaje de inmunodeficiencia combinada grave y su oportunidad para implementarse en México

RESUMEN
La inmunodeficiencia combinada grave comprende una variedad de defectos génicos que, con distintos patrones de deficiencia inmunitaria celular, pueden ser letales durante los primeros años de vida. Sin embargo, existen distintos métodos para detectarla y tratarla. Si esto ocurre durante los primeros meses de vida, el pronóstico es excelente. Los avances en la tecnología y la viabilidad de los círculos de excisión de células T (TRECs) y su implementación a gran escala, principalmente en Estados Unidos, han demostrado que el tamizaje es eficaz y costo-efectivo. En México, el diagnóstico y tratamiento de estos defectos son ya una realidad, por lo que incluirlos en el tamiz neonatal es una oportunidad para prevenir a gran escala las complicaciones y costos derivados de no diagnosticar y tratar estos padecimientos a tiempo.
