Técnicas de laboratorio de fertilización in vitro: avances y aplicaciones

RESUMEN
Las técnicas de reproducción asistida (ART), que han tenido un desarrollo exponencial, no sólo por el desarrollo de más técnicas de tratamiento y diagnóstico, también a causa de que los medios de cultivo y los equipos evolucionaron para adaptarse a estos procedimientos y tienen un papel fundamental en el éxito de las técnicas de ART. Dentro de las técnicas que han marcado un cambio fundamental en ART, está el desarrollo de la técnica de ICSI (
intracytoplasmic sperm injection) por Palermo y colaboradores (1993) quienes reportaron el primer nacimiento por esta técnica. En la actualidad, debido a la gran variedad de técnicas en fertilización in vitro (FIV), el laboratorio se divide en cuatro áreas principales: andrología, FIV, genética y criopreservación. Cada vez hay más avances en la tecnología en las técnicas FIV, las cuales ayudan a poder realizar mejores diagnósticos y tratamientos individualizados en los casos de infertilidad.
