La actividad volcánica y su relación con el medio ambiente y salud

RESUMEN
El estudio de la actividad volcánica a nivel mundial muestra que la exhalación de ceniza a la atmósfera puede alterar las condiciones bióticas y abióticas. El Monte Santa Helena y el volcán Pinatubo provocaron alteraciones en vías respiratorias de las poblaciones aledañas, además el volcán Pinatubo por la gran cantidad de ceniza exhalada a la atmósfera provocó un descenso en la temperatura a nivel global. El volcán Popocatépetl no ha significado un riesgo, sin embargo su constante exhalación de gases y cenizas puede condicionar la exacerbación de diferentes enfermedades alérgicas en la población. Considerar la actividad volcánica como una fuente de contaminación natural permitirá conocer a mediano plazo su implicación como factor de riesgo en diversas enfermedades de las poblaciones.
