Material y métodos: Para esta revisión se realizó una búsqueda en las bases de datos LILACS, MEDLINE y GOOGLE SCHOLAR con los siguientes términos: alteración cognitiva, postoperatoria, preoperatoria, salud mental, anciano, desenlaces, demencia con una búsqueda de términos MeSH (“aging”[MeSH Terms] OR “aging”[All Fields]) AND (“cognitive dysfunction”[MeSH Terms] OR (“cognitive”[All Fields] AND “dysfunction”[All Fields]) OR “cognitive dysfunction”[All Fields] OR (“cognitive”[All Fields] AND “impairment”[All Fields]) OR “cognitive impairment”[All Fields]) AND outcomes[All Fields] AND (“dementia”[MeSH Terms] OR “dementia”[All Fields]) AND (“mental health”[MeSH Terms] OR (“mental”[All Fields] AND “health”[All Fields]) OR “mental health”[All Fields]) que se complementó con una búsqueda en bola de nieve ambispectiva a partir del año 2001 a la actualidad.
