RESUMEN
La obesidad infantil se relaciona con hábitos alimentarios
que pueden variar en los distintos ambientes en que se desarrollan
los niños, y que requieren estrategias específicas de
control. El propósito de este trabajo es conocer los hábitos
alimenticios en la escuela y el hogar, así como determinar
la prevalencia de obesidad y sobrepeso de niños de ocho
a diez años de edad, en escuelas primarias de Cd. Guzmán,
Jalisco. La prevalencia de obesidad y sobrepeso es similar
a la media nacional, siendo mayor en niños de diez años y
niñas de ocho; también se observaron más hábitos alimentarios
obesogénicos en el hogar que en la escuela. Esta información
permitirá comprender la problemática local para
contribuir con la implementación de medidas específicas
de control y evaluar la efectividad de la reciente estrategia
nacional contra la obesidad, que intenta modificar el comportamiento
alimentario en las escuelas.
