Tratamiento con amantadina y zolpidem de un estado de mínima conciencia secundario a lesión axonal difusa

RESUMEN
El traumatismo craneoencefálico grave puede condicionar alteraciones
de la conciencia, como un estado de mínima conciencia o un
estado vegetativo persistente. Las estrategias farmacológicas están
dirigidas a mejorar la recuperación neurológica de estos pacientes.
Las vías dopaminérgicas tienen un papel fundamental en el despertar
de estos pacientes. Comunicamos el caso de un paciente con estado
de mínima conciencia, secundario a traumatismo craneoencefálico
grave, que respondió de manera favorable al tratamiento con medicamentos
prodopaminérgicos: amantadina más zolpidem. A pesar de
la evidencia científica disponible, se necesita más investigación para
aclarar el papel del tratamiento farmacológico con amantadina más
zolpidem en estados vegetativos y mínimamente conscientes; aunque
en la actualidad esta combinación tiene buen posicionamiento como
estrategia farmacológica.
