Evaluación del receptor de trasplante renal

Para muchos pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica avanzada, el trasplante renal es el tratamiento de elección. Esta opción debe ser considerada tempranamente ya que en algunos pacientes el trasplante puede realizarse antes de que se requiera diálisis para sustituir la función renal, es decir, en forma anticipada.
El proceso de evaluación del potencial receptor de un trasplante renal debe hacerse en forma multidisciplinaria por un equipo de trasplante el cual incluye: nefrólogo, cirujano de trasplantes, urólogo, trabajadora social, enfermeras y expertos en tipificación tisular. En muchos centros el receptor y el donador son evaluados por diferentes equipos de médicos, para prevenir la influencia del médico del receptor sobre la evaluación de los probables donadores.
