Complejo malformativo de Poland: Presentación de un caso y revisión de la literatura

RESUMEN
En 1841, Alfred Poland, realizando la disección de un cadáver encontró un cuadro al que tituló: “Deficiencia de los músculos pectorales”; reportándolo en la Gaceta del Hospital Guy de Londres y describiendo la ausencia de la porción esternocostal del músculo pectoral mayor, del pectoral menor e hipoplasia del serrato mayor y del oblicuo externo, actualmente, los datos mencionados son considerados como la expresión mínima del ahora denominado “Complejo malformativo de Poland”, el cual implica: ausencia o disminución del vello axilar ipsilateral, aréola y pezón generalmente pequeño o ausente y glándula mamaria hipoplásica; las deformidades esqueléticas pueden incluir ausencia de porciones de costillas, la extremidad superior ipsilateral puede verse afectada con hipoplasia y acompañarse de sindactilia simple, completa e incompleta; existe asociación con otros síndromes como el de Möbius y Klippel-Feil, con leucemia y linfoma no Hodgkin, síndrome de Marfan y dextrocardia. La tecnología y las técnicas quirúrgicas modernas proporcionan a los pacientes un estudio más completo y brindan una reconstrucción cada vez más adecuada. Al acudir un paciente con complejo malformativo de Poland, nos dimos a la tarea de presentar el caso y revisar la literatura.
