RESUMEN
Los genes homeobox codifican
proteínas denominadas factores
de transcripción, encargadas de
la regulación de la transcripción
genética, uniéndose a diversos
genes para favorecer o bloquear
su expresión. La desregulación
de estos factores de transcripción
está relacionada con diversos
procesos neoplásicos.
MEIS1
es un gen que codifica para
el factor de transcripción del
mismo nombre, el cual participa
en las etapas tempranas de la
hematopoyesis manteniendo a
las células madre en un estado
indiferenciado y favoreciendo su
proliferación. La sobreexpresión
de este gen acelera el desarrollo
de neoplasias hematológicas
y además es un factor de mal
pronóstico en pacientes con
leucemias.
