El ecocardiograma en el diagnóstico de la enfermedad vascular cerebral de origen cardioembólico

RESUMEN
El diagnóstico de la enfermedad vascular cerebral (EVC) se ha incrementado con la disponibilidad de las técnicas diagnósticas de
imagenología tales como la tomografía, la resonancia magnética y el ecocardiograma. En este artículo presentamos la utilidad del
ecocardiograma transtorácico y el ecocardiograma transesofágico para diagnosticar EVC de origen cardioembólico causadas por
fibrilación auricular, estenosis mitral reumática, las prótesis valvulares, endocarditis infecciosa, trombos intraventriculares, prolapso
mitral, tumores, calcificaciones intracardiacas, foramen oval permeable y aneurisma septal.
