Funciones de receptores Fc en mecanismos de defensa y regulación inmunológica

RESUMEN
Los receptores específicos para anticuerpos, llamados Receptores Fc, son proteínas que se encuentran en la superficie de leucocitos. Los receptores Fc contribuyen a las funciones protectoras del sistema inmunológico, cuando reconocen a los anticuerpos que se han unido a células infectadas o a microorganismos patógenos. La activación de los receptores Fc estimula a células fagocíticas o citotóxicas para que destruyan a los microorganismos o a las células infectadas a través de fagocitosis o de citotoxicidad dependiente de anticuerpos. Esta revisión describe los principales tipos de receptores Fc y las vías de transducción de señal que son iniciadas por estos receptores en los diferentes leucocitos, con énfasis en la fagocitosis. También se discuten los descubrimientos recientes del papel regulador de los receptores Fc sobre las funciones del sistema inmunológico.
