Efecto del fluoruro de sodio sobre enzimas antioxidantes en el eritrocito humano

RESUMEN
Antecedentes: El exceso en la ingesta de fluoruro produce una condición de intoxicación llamada fluorosis, la cual puede manifestarse en el ser humano como problemas en el sistema hematológico. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue describir el efecto
in vitro del fluoruro de sodio (NaF) sobre la actividad específica de las principales enzimas antioxidantes del eritrocito como indicadores de estrés oxidativo.
Métodos: Eritrocitos humanos fueron incubados con NaF (10, 25, 50 o 100 ppm) y se determinó la actividad específica de las enzimas superóxido dismutasa, catasa y glutatión peroxidasa.
Resultados: Los eritrocitos incubados con cantidades crecientes de NaF presentan disminución en la actividad de las enzimas antioxidantes.
Conclusiones: Nuestros resultados indican que,
in vitro, el NaF induce estrés oxidativo en el eritrocito que puede ser un mecanismo de daño a este tipo de célula.
