Neumonía asociada con ventilador en pacientes de la unidad de cuidados intensivos

RESUMEN
El paciente en estado crítico, independiente de la causa que lo lleva a una unidad de cuidados intensivos, enfrenta una serie de factores de riesgo que pueden agravar su condición. De ellos, uno de los más costosos para la vida y la función es la neumonía asociada con la ventilación necesaria para soportar su vida. En esta revisión se presentan diversos aspectos del tema y se resume una visión internacional actual. Se sugieren algunas conductas avaladas por organismos de expertos para facilitar al médico internista su abordaje diagnóstico y terapéutico.
