Experiencia de 10 años con malla de polipropileno en la reparación laparoscópica de la hernia inguinal en el Hospital Ángeles Lomas

RESUMEN
Antecedentes: Algunos reportes indican que el uso de materiales protésicos en la reparación de la hernia inguinal puede estar relacionado a complicaciones, y esto ha motivado una revolución en el desarrollo de diversos materiales.
Objetivo: Presentar nuestra experiencia y resultados con el uso de la malla de polipropileno convencional, en reparaciones inguinales por vía laparoscópica con técnica transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP), durante los últimos 10 años en el Hospital Ángeles Lomas.
Métodos: Es un estudio clínico, retrospectivo. Se revisaron 143 expedientes de los pacientes sometidos a hernioplastia inguinal laparoscópica por la vía TAPP, en el Hospital Ángeles Lomas de mayo de 1999 a mayo de 2009 por un grupo quirúrgico, utilizando malla de polipropileno.
Resultados: Los días de estancia intrahospitalaria promedio fueron 1.5 días y el tiempo promedio de regreso a sus actividades cotidianas fue de 1.7 semanas. Se presentó 1 caso de recurrencia (0.7%), tres casos de inguinodinia, todos respondieron al tratamiento conservador en menos de un mes y 3 de seroma. No hubo ningún caso de infección, ni otras complicaciones relacionadas a la malla.
Conclusiones: Consideramos que la malla de polipropileno sigue siendo una buena opción en la reparación inguinal laparoscópica. En nuestra experiencia reúne las características del mejor material protésico.
